Which bin should I go in?

At Adelaide Entertainment Centre, we’re making it easier for everyone to do their part when it comes to waste.

Our bin system has been designed to help reduce landfill, support recycling, and keep our venue clean and green.

Whether you’re tossing out food scraps, packaging, or something in between, there’s a specific bin for you to use – along with clear signage to help you make the best choice, every time.

Please note, while we strive to provide accurate, up-to-date information, some items may require special handling or disposal. If you’re unsure about where to place an item, please check the bin signage carefully or ask a team member for assistance. Thank you for helping us keep our venue clean and sustainable!

The green bin is for organic waste – anything that can break down naturally, like food scraps or certified compostable packaging.

By using the green bin, you’re helping turn waste into nutrient-rich compost instead of sending it to landfill.

Just remember, only organic waste and compostables go here — no plastics or foils.

YES: Food scraps, BioCups (clear, coffee cups & lids), cardboard food packaging, wooden cutlery, paper straws, napkins

🚫 NO: 10c deposit containers, soft plastics, foil wrappers, bottle lids, mixed-material packaging

The white bin is for drink containers that carry a 10c refund — like plastic bottles, glass bottles and cans.

These items are collected through the South Australian Government Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) and recycled separately to help keep containers out of landfill and support a closed-loop recycling system.

If the 10c refund label is on your drink – it goes in this bin!

YES: Plastic and glass bottles, cans with the 10c refund label

🚫 NO: Food scraps, certified compostable packaging, plastic confectionary packets/wrappers, squeeze sauces, foil wrappers, bottle lids, mixed-material packaging

The red bin is for waste that can’t go in our organics bin or 10c recycling bin – but don’t belong in landfill either.

It’s sorted and managed as a dry waste stream, which means the contents are managed separately to reduce contamination and help improve overall waste processing.

Think of this as the bin for anything that doesn’t belong in the other bins, and keep it clean and dry to help the process!

YES: Plastic confectionary packets/wrappers, squeeze sauces, foil wrappers, bottle lids, mixed-material packaging

🚫 NO: Food scraps, certified compostable packaging, 10c deposit bottles or cans
